Spring wishlist: two/three tone sandals

Two (sometimes three!) tone sandals are high on my wishlist for spring.  Love that they are versatile and can be worn with a variety of outfits.  Also loving the slightly retro vibe.  Here are a few of my favorites

 Clockwise:
Kickers Subtil; Madewell Streetside; Coclico Valencia; Chloe Heloise

Blue and green

Spring is here!  And one of my favorite tried and true color combinations is blue + green.  I'm also looking forward to trying coral + mint, purple + turquoise and of course adding splashes of neon pink to navy and greys.  What color combinations do you love for spring?

Gap striped t shirt dress

Are you drawn to items that aren't the most flattering?  Tee shirt dresses are on my love/hate list.  I love them because they are so comfortable and easy to wear but unfortunately I do not possess the straight figure and  long limbs for them.  Still, every year I try and this time, the Gap version caught my eye--you know how addicted to stripes I am.  This dress is surprisingly flattering since the material is thicker (the better to hide bumps and lumps) and the top is cut small so it's fitted but it's still roomy in the hip area.  I belted it for a bit more shape and wore this all weekend long, from an estate sale to grocery shopping to the movies.  I'm thinking it might be worth investing in the navy/white striped version next!

Tess Dress: Spring Collection

I'm so excited that Tess' spring collection is finally out!  There are some gorgeous blouses and pencil skirts for work and lovely dresses for play.  I wish I had spring/summer weddings to go to, because the Judy and Sarah are perfect choices:

The Audrey in Gingham is top on my list and I can't wait to try it on.  Tess dresses always have amazing attention to detail and fit and the quality is superb.  Will report back soon!

ain't no party like a Yelp party

hunt.gather.style is going to be part of Yelp's Backyard Blowout SXSW party!!  The fun is at the Vortex and Butterfly Bar on Friday March 16 from 2-5pm.  It is FREE and more details can be found here.  We will be bringing over 400 pieces of vintage and gently used contemporary items so please come by and see us!  I'll be the gal hogging the Korean tacos and bunnies at the petting zoo!

h.g.s gals

Had a wonderful time at the vintage pop up shop!  Thank you to Emma at Etcetera for hosting us, Amanda at "Le Petite Tarts" for the sweets, and to everyone that came out to support us!  It was fun to see people rocking the vintage items from our shop at the Texas Style Council party that very night.  Can't wait to see how everyone wears their finds!

I'm headed out of town for a few days but then will be back for yet another special event.  Will post more details in a bit!

ps: my outfit details--vintage maxi dress and snake belt, T by Alexander Wang blazer and guess what shoes?

Jewelry making

In keeping with my new year's resolution to create more with my hands, I've been working on some jewelry pieces.  I've been especially drawn to triangles and chevron prints so these brass findings were fun to put together.

I also finally took the time to put new bails and chains on vintage items that I've been collecting for a while now.  These are really special--a spinner charm (that reads "I love you" when you spin it), an old watch key, and some unique travel charms from New Zealand.

I really enjoy creating something new out of the old and if you do too, these items will be at our vintage pop up shop on Saturday--hope to see you there!

Hot pink pencil skirt

One of the things we do when tagging inventory for our vintage shop (this upcoming weekend!) is to write down styling suggestions on the tags.  There are two raspberry pink skirts (one pencil, one full) in the shop inventory this time and immediately Sydney suggested pairing them with stripes.  This inspired me to pull out my own vintage hot pink pencil skirt out and try it with one of my favorite striped tops.  Hello spring!

Clare Vivier cobalt foldover clutch

Here's what I wore out for dinner on Saturday night.  A little bit of lace and a cozy cardigan.  I finally got my hands on a Clare Viver clutch--isn't it gorgeous?  Now if only I can act like a responsible adult and quit misplacing clutches.  And also start making restaurant reservations for the right date.
