T by Alexander Wang asymmetrical dress

This T by Alexander Wang dress was my first maxi purchase this season and I haven't looked back since!  I have Grechen to thank for introducing me to this dress--the fabric is nice and heavy and drapes so well and the cut is a bit unique with a higher neck, skinnier shoulders and an asymmetrical hemline to show off your favorite shoes.  In my case, it's my new pair of grey suede No 6 woven clogs!  I am looking forward to wearing them more in the fall and winter months.  Here's a picture of Sydney wearing this same dress--it is really so gorgeous and flattering on all body types--if you can snag one on sale right now, go for it!

Elizabeth and James

After a week's vacation, it was difficult to get up and ready on a Monday morning.  I pulled out a trusty work outfit and blearily drove to work.  Now that I look at this picture, I realize my skirt is a lot shorter than I thought.  Maybe I grew, or maybe I just need longer skirts, esp for work.  I'm picking up 3 from alterations this evening so hopefully my knees will be covered next time :)   Do you have any fashion rules for work attire?

Pajamas: 5, Me: 0

Lots of traveling, the hot weather, and my pajamas (full story here) have all attributed to the lack of outfit posts in the last two weeks.  I acquired a lot of thrifted and vintage items from Chicago that are getting altered as we speak so I hope that will help inspire me to get back on schedule soon!

Eskell, Chicago

I've been in Chicago for the past few days and had a great time with my friend K.  She was a real trooper and kept up with me as we explored and scored big at thrift, vintage and consignment stores all around town.  We also shopped along Wicker Park/Bucktown and got to visit my most favorite store yet, Eskell.  Here are a few pictures I snapped of her swoon worthy prints.  These beauties are high on my wishlist!

Oh and in case you're interested in food, check out my other blog for more pictures...

My version of the Readymade dress

The Readymade dress from Anthropologie has been tempting me desperately, especially since it went on sale.  I made a deal with myself to try to at least copy it to see if I could be satisfied with utilizing what's in my closet instead.  I'm still undecided, what do you think?

Fall fashion: Madewell lookbook

So excited to see the Madewell fall lookbook out today!  I've got a pretty good handle on spring/summer dressing but can always use the inspiration for cooler weather wear.  Here are some of my favorite looks I hope to recreate this fall (which starts in November in Texas)

Will be on the lookout for thrifted/vintage full skirts like this to pair with sweaters

Happy that I can wear my button front skirts into the fall and love the pairing with a comfy top

I cannot wait to get my hands on some of Madewell's widelegger jeans!

Absolutely adore the stripes with a maxi look (yay stripes!)

Great maxi skirt idea

I love how effortless the layering looks here
(usually I feel like a stuffed sausage when I attempt to layer)

Did you checkout the Madewell lookbook?  Any favorites?
