Nation dress

I've been wanting a nude dress all summer long and now that I've finally found one, I can't figure out what to do with it.  I like a nude dress in theory, but actually wearing one is a bit daunting.  I wanted to pair it with a bright color (so no one would mistake me for being naked) and went with this bright blue cardigan (that is more cobalt in real life than purple in this picture).  The accessories were chosen in about the 20 seconds I had remaining before I had to leave the house.  And yes, those are my second pair of No.6 t-strap clogs--they're insanely comfortable and were on sale, I'll wear them all the time I swear!  Anyways, I'd like to wear this dress again, but need some help.  I think I might hem it a bit (the hem can be cut just like Rachel Pally dresses, yay!), but what would you pair with it?  I need details!

Outfit details
Dress: Nation LTD
Cardigan: Jcrew
Shoes: No.6
Accessories: Jcrew belt
Candance Ang necklace

  1. How pretty! Nude dresses are very elegant. I don't think anyone will mistake you for being nekkers. :) I would suggest forgoing the cardigan. Perhaps less could be more? Plus, I'd love to see the sleeves on that dress. If you need something to keep you warm in a chilly indoor environment, I might try neutrals like white, grey, or black. I know, so boring--especially considering Gayle's (jcrew) obsession with color everywhere these days. I do love color, but sometimes it's ok to be a bit understated. I am by no means a professional, though. I'm excited to hear Sydney's suggestions! Great dress!

    1. M it's actually a racerback sleeveless type of dress, hence the cardigan for work :) I found this picture I love and might try to copy when the weather turns cooler (which it never will here! jealous of your SF weather!)

  2. My suggestion is neutrals. I have a champagne colored dress that I paired with a cream fur vest and I loved it.

  3. Paired with a black blazer come fall. Ooooh, or a leather jacket. OR a white blazer and a giant necklace. Or a jean jacket.

  4. I like Sydney's idea of leather jacket, cropped. I think I'd like an even shorter cardi with it, too. And Gracey's idea of neutrals sounds really pretty. (Basically, I have nothing fresh to add...) Oh, except for this: I just received a Nation LTD tee in the mail today and I loved the little note that came with it, "You'll look supercute in this. xoxThe Shipping Guy" lol...
