Nothing beats 100 degree weather like a silk tank dress.

Armor

It wasn't until I got to work that I realized I chose this specific outfit as armor against an anticipated difficult day.  I needed to have all my ducks in a row, ready to do battle, and my outfit was my first line of defense.

ps: sorry this was the only outfit picture that came out.  I was super paranoid that a mosquito was buzzing around me but it turned out to be a poor defenseless plant instead.

ahoy matey

So I've discovered that writing about loving stripes can be a little dangerous when spell check does not immediately flag "strip"...

Jcrew stripe button front dress

I need a stripe intervention! This dress was marked down even more in store so with my teacher discount, I gleefully spirited it away.  The fit on the bodice is a bit like a halter top, it cuts in at the shoulders and has kind of large arm holes, which visually widens my shoulders so I look a linebacker.  Thank goodness I have a closet full of cardigans to help hide that fact.

Zara maxi skirt

Though this skirt is from last season, Zara has plenty of similar gorgeous maxi skirts out this season in lots of fun colors--just in case you're in the market for one! :)

Steven Alan Hannah

I kept kicking myself for missing out on Jcrew's souvenir dress and wasn't willing to pay overinflated ebay prices.  Thankfully, this little Steven Alan number came along via myhabit (a huge addiction of mine--sample sale prices with quick and free shipping and returns? yes please!). The Hannah is made of a lovely silk material and its casual shape is perfect for work and weekend shopping trips.  Take that overpriced Jcrew ebay goods!

High low hem

High low hems are popular this season and while I can't do the short versions (too 80s, too mullet like, you can see my knees!), I think it's a fun trend on maxi dresses.  I spent the whole day swishing around work--every girl needs to wear a dress with a train on a non wedding day!

Tea length

Since these Matt Bernson wedges are 4 inches tall, I took the opportunity to wear all my long length skirts with them in hopes of not looking too frumpy.  I love this Jcrew liquid silk skirt and though it could probably use a hemming, I love the feel of the fabric as it swishes when I walk.  Have a great weekend!

Madewell Parklane

I was drawn to this Madewell dress by its simple tank shape and drapey silk fabric.  I had originally wishlisted the striped version but I think this black one will be more versatile - perfect for work and for the weekends.  I know I say that about most of my dresses but I really do mean it this time! :)

Spring uniform

I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of nude sandals and am so happy with these Matt Bernson wedges.  The leather is soft, the footbed is well cushioned and the platform helps lessen the impact of the 4 inch heel!  I'll be wearing these all week so I'll report back later on the comfort factor for every day wear.  Fingers crossed!
