33 weeks

I've been feeling decidedly better mentally and emotionally as we head into the "fourth quarter" in football speak.  We attended a great series of childbirth classes by Get Babied and while labor and childbirth still seems awfully terrifying, it's also reassuring to know that the many physical changes in pregnancy and the process of childbirth all actually serve a purpose.  It's fascinating to think about the linea nigra (line down your belly) as an evolutionary guide to helping your baby find its way to its food source.  Or how contractions during labor help squeeze the fluid out of the baby's lungs to prepare it for its first breath of oxygen.

Something else that has given us a huge sense of relief is deciding on having a doula with us at home and at the hospital for the process.  It will be reassuring to have someone there to well, reassure us and walk us through this unknown time.  If you're local, I highly suggest checking out the classes, services and philosophy of Get Babied!

Watercolors

I am partial to watercolor prints and their timeless appeal.  This dress is at least 40 years old and yet I can imagine a similar print on current runways and magazines.  I've been trying to be super picky about my prints lately, buying for longevity instead of cutesy prints that will be dated in a few years (put a bird on it, anyone?).  However, if I do see anything with a llama on it, all bets are off!

Ermie Topanga dress

I have been a fan of Ermie and her gorgeous prints for a while now so when M from Pretty Mommy posted her gorgeous picture and that a new shipment had just come in, I jumped on the chance to get the Topanga maxi dress in the Souvenir print.

Those that know me know that purchasing something is usually a painstakingly slow process.  I obsess over colors, the fabrics, the cost per wear, etc. (you should see me try to pick out produce at the grocery store) so I was afraid this was an impulse buy.  But fortunately, it turned out to be the best type of impulse buy (the dress is already sold out) and I LOVE it to bits!  It is made from the softest jersey that is still thick enough to drape and flow over your body.  The print is so unique and just genius.  And...the dress can be worn in two ways as the reverse is a v neck with a pleat down the front.  A two-fer!

You can check out other Ermie goodness here (I'm already stalking the Raku sundress!) and Pretty Mommy's enviable selection of items here--she carries the best designers and provides such great customer service.

Spring uniform

I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of nude sandals and am so happy with these Matt Bernson wedges.  The leather is soft, the footbed is well cushioned and the platform helps lessen the impact of the 4 inch heel!  I'll be wearing these all week so I'll report back later on the comfort factor for every day wear.  Fingers crossed!

Ice cream colors

Here what I wore to our vintage pop up shop at Madewell this weekend.  Super comfortable footwear is a must for shop days so I broke out my grandma-ish Worishofers (which are also my personal favorites for traveling and city walking).  I found this vintage mint skirt in Chicago last year and kept it b/c of the light fabric and drape.  Little did I know that mint would be in this spring!  Pairing it with a bright pink cardigan made me hungry for ice cream all day.  Which is actually quite the norm for me so I guess I can't lay all the blame on the outfit.

T by Alexander Wang long sleeve asymmetrical dress

It's no secret that I love the T by Alexander Wang asymmetrical dress so I was excited to snag this long sleeve version on super sale.  It's a bit more close fitting that the sleeveless version so I chose a wool vest to go with it.  Yes, this is my second vest!  Who would've thought?

Malia bird skirt

Here's another blue/green combination outfit.  I find myself wearing this color combination a lot in the summer as well as other bright colors.  Then in the winter I escape into black and greys.  How about you?  What's your favorite fashion color combination?

Sailboat dress turned skirt

I am a creature of habit so here is yet another Malia vintage dress in a sailboat print.  But to my credit instead of reaching for my tried and true formula of a belt and cardigan, I decided to put a short sweater over the dress instead.  I've always loved the look on others and thought I'd try out something new.  It felt a bit odd not wearing a belt all day as I like to have my waist defined, but I definitely like the idea of having the option of wearing this as a dress or a skirt.  What are your thoughts on this top over a dress deal?  Have you tried it?  Liked it?

Mociun dress

This Mociun dress (found by way of Moss) is officially my favorite weekend dress.  It's easy to put on and the fabric and style keeps me cool in this 100 degree heat.  I am once again photo-bombed by Link.  I'm surprised B cut him off in this picture.  Usually the pictures he takes are more of the dogs than me.  In one instance, my head was cut off so he could get a good angle of Link.  Priorities priorities.
